Synopsis

A raw exploration of trauma and reckoning, Norman/Norman (2024) tackles themes of domestic and gun violence, as well as their aftermath, using a personal storyline. After witnessing the brutal murder of his mother 30 years ago, Norman travels to Jamaica to piece together what happened and where he came from by confronting the murderer: his father. Directors Gabrielle Blackwood and Charles Warburton approach the heavy subject matter with a sense of hope, and their use of intimately-framed visual language testifies to their commitment to a respectful and poignant filmmaking practice. In their own words, this is not a crime story, but one of a man in search of understanding.
